We all have comfort shows, and we all enjoy laughing. The glory of television is that it provides an escape from the redundancy of real life. One of the best things about sitcoms is that they convert common situations into comical interactions. The mutuality between a sitcom and life is undeniable, like most entertainment, but with the bright humor, impressive puns, and familial complexes, it just makes you want to gather around and binge. Today, I've decided to name five sitcoms I've had the pleasure of watching and the platforms on which they are available.

The King of Queens

King of Queens follows Doug Heffernan and his wife, Cary Heffernan, in Queens, New York. It exemplifies the dynamic of husband and wife in early 2000s America; Doug is a truck driver, and his wife is a secretary. Their lives are modest and American. The situations Doug typically finds himself in are typical of a hungry, lazy, sport-watching thirty-something year old man, as his wife doesn't seem to understand why he acts the way he does. Marital arguments, family debates, and friendly peer pressure fuel this enthralling comedy.

The Bernie Mac show

The Bernie Mac Show follows infamous comedian Bernie Mac, who recently takes in the kids of his sick sister. He is forced to navigate from his kid-free life with his lovely wife Wanda to playing parent; however, he still has the kids call him "Uncle Bernie". Bernie Mac was always unpredictable, rash, and volatile, and did it all while making you fall to the floor. In this show, he is no different, from his efforts to discipline the teenage girl Vanessa, or with his bashful comments to his nephew Jordan, or his blatant spoiling of baby girl; Bernie Mac and his newfound parenting situations keep you entertained.

Workaholics

Workaholics is a single-camera comedy, according to IMDb, but I'll call it a sitcom for conversation's sake. It follows three enthusiastic young men managing the early stages of adulthood. The only thing is, they are amazed by everything besides work. Their adventures sometimes pertain to their sales job, or issues with their shared house, and personal vendettas with one another. It's indeed entertaining, and I have only seen the first two seasons so far, but I believe it to be a great show to turn on at any time.

Icarly

If you watched the Nickelodeon teen series, this is Carly all grown up. I was drawn to the show because of the character's past, and was interested in the direction of the spin-off. In my opinion, it was far from childish, with plenty of millennial situations, one-night stands, and innuendos. The episodes are entertaining and follow Carly in the stern adult world with her gleeful optimism. The show that was once ahead of its time is now back in an era filled with YouTubers and streamers, adding a synonymous story with those who grew up watching the show.

Seinfield

Seinfeld is a sitcom of sitcoms. It explores the world of New York, following Jerry Seinfeld and his friends, neighbors, colleagues, and more. The adventures are unique, the characters are humanly flawed, and the situations are personable and hilarious. It's a slow, smooth flow of comedy, but the characters' humor and chemistry bring the sitcom to a legendary status. It took me years to get into the show, recommended many times; when I watched, I never understood, when Netflix added it, I started from episode one. Now I can watch any episode at any time and laugh on cue.
